Magazine paper types generallyincludenewsprint, pressure glossy magazine paper, offset paper, light coated paper, coated paper,glossy/matte art paper, this sort reflects the quality of paper from low to high, at the same time the price is so.

Each paper has its own characteristics: newsprint without coating, most of it is made of mechanical pulp, weight generally from 38 grams -48 grams; Pressing magazine paper is the newsprint pressing, is not coated, most of the mechanical pulp copying, more than 42 grams, but this kind of paper in mainland China is still relatively rare; Offset paper is not coated, most of it is chemical pulp, more than 70 grams, which is very common in China. Light coated paper (LWC) is a single layer coating, mostly based on mechanical pulp, shiny. Now there is a high white light coated paper, is improved on the basis of the original light coated paper, so that it has a better whiteness; Medium coated paper (MWC) is double coated, most of which is made of mechanical pulp and weighs more than 70 grams; Coated paper is the most familiar paper, most of it is made of chemical pulp, coated with single, double and three layers, and its coating and paper surface treatment, different paper factories have different technology, quality is also very different. In fact, coated paper and coated paper have overlapping parts, coated paper double-layer and multi-layer coating, quality is better than coated paper, but coated paper is better than single-layer coated coated coated paper, this is because the shielding rate of mechanical pulp is better than chemical pulp. As for three coated coated coated paper, some people call it true powder.

So what kind of magazines choose what kind of paper, and how to choose magazine paper stock?

Generally speaking, high-grade clothing and life-themed magazines mostly use more than 70 grams of coated paper, medium coated paper; High quality monthly and professional magazines use medium coated paper, high whiteness light coated paper, weight ≥70 grams; General quality of monthly, weekly often use high white light coated paper, light coated paper, weight ≥60 grams; Large circulation weekly and comprehensive magazines generally use light coated paper, pressure paper, gram weight ≥65 grams.

In addition, the selection of weight generally has the following rules: magazines and product catalogs with high circulation generally choose 36-54 grams of paper; Higher quality monthly is 60-80 grams; 65-150 grams for professional magazines and customer magazines; Quality magazines are 75-115 grams. Of course, this is only a general analysis, all kinds of magazines in the specific printing order, there will be a variety of specific changes.

Finally, magazine paper is developing towards low gram weight, good whiteness and printability, which can not only reduce paper consumption, but also further save by reducing mailing costs and print magazine cost.
